The Morris Brown College Bubbling Brown Sugar Dance Team Alumni Association is a vibrant and passionate group of former members of the renowned Bubbling Brown Sugar Dance Team at Morris Brown College. Established to honor the rich legacy of the dance team and foster a sense of community among its alumni, the coalition serves as a platform for networking, support, and engagement.
Morris Brown College, located in Atlanta, Georgia, has a long-standing history of academic excellence and cultural significance. The Bubbling Brown Sugar Dance Team, founded at the college in 1975, quickly gained recognition for its exceptional talent, dynamic performances, and commitment to preserving the African American dance tradition.
As alumni of the Bubbling Brown Sugar Dance Team, we share a common bond forged through years of dedication to the art of dance, teamwork, and personal growth. The Association aims to harness this shared experience to empower and uplift both current and future generations of dancers.
Our mission is threefold:
Preserving the Legacy: We are committed to preserving the legacy of the Bubbling Brown Sugar Dance Team by documenting its history, archiving memorable performances, and sharing the stories and achievements of our talented Alumnae. Through these efforts, we ensure that the impact and influence of the Dance Team will continue to inspire generations to come.
Networking and Support: We strive to create a strong network of alumnae who can support one another personally and professionally, by fostering connections, providing mentorship opportunities, and sharing resources, we aim to empower our members in their respective careers and endeavors.
Community Engagement: We believe in giving back to our community and inspiring positive grow. Through various community engagement initiatives, such as dance workshops, outreach programs, and fundraising events, we actively contribute to the development and advancement of dance education and artistic expression.

​The mission of Morris Brown College’s Bubbling Brown Sugar Dance Team Alumni Association is to unite, empower, and uplift our Alumni Community while preserving our Legacy. Through our shared passion for dance and commitment to excellence, we strive to make a positive impact on the world of dance and the broader community.
Our mission encompasses the following core objectives:
Preservation of Legacy: We are dedicated to preserving the rich history and legacy of the Bubbling Brown Sugar Dance Team, through documenting its achievements, memorable performances, and sharing stories and experiences, in order to ensure that the impact of the dance team continues to inspire future generations.
Networking and Support: We aim to build a strong network of alumni to foster connections, support one another, and provide professional and personal development opportunities. By facilitating mentorship, career guidance, and resource sharing, we seek to empower our members to achieve their goals and aspirations.
Community Engagement: We believe in giving back to the community through dance education and outreach initiatives; and we actively engage with our local communities, schools, and organizations to promote the importance of dance as an Art Form, to inspire creativity, and foster a love for movement.
Advocacy for the Arts: We advocate for the recognition and appreciation of the arts, particularly dance, as a vital component of education, culture, and personal growth. Through collaborations with other arts organizations, participation in events, and advocacy efforts, we strive to elevate the status and importance of dance within society.
Celebrating Diversity and Inclusion: We embrace diversity and inclusivity within our alumni association, recognizing and valuing the unique perspectives and talents of all members. We are committed to creating an inclusive and supportive environment where individuals from all backgrounds feel welcome and represented.
Lifelong Learning and Growth: We promote lifelong learning and growth by providing educational opportunities, workshops, and seminars for our alum. We encourage continuous development of dance skills, artistic expression, and personal growth to empower our members to reach their fullest potential.
Through our mission and commitment to these objectives, the Morris Brown College Bubbling Brown Sugar Dance Team Alumni Association aims to create a lasting legacy as we inspire future generations of dancers, and contribute to the advancement of dance as an Art Form.
Our Vision
The vision of Bubbling Brown Sugar is to foster a sense of unity and fellowship among our alumnae, while preserving the legacy and cultural significance for future generations.
• We endeavor to engage in community outreach as we strive to give back to our college community and inspire the next generation of dancers.
• We strive to further develop and provide opportunities for continued artistic growth to our alumni dancers. This to include organizing workshops, masterclasses, support ongoing training and education in dance as well as. Scholarships for future generations of Bubbling Brown Sugar Alumni.
Alumni Creed
As an alumnus and friend of Morris Brown College, I will at all times and in all places, strive to promote the good name and reputation of such an outstanding institution. With dignity, I will demonstrate in my character and deportment, an air of pride that will be noticeable and respected. With compassion, I will take advantage of every opportunity to speak on her behalf, and assist in any way possible with the efforts of the school, in the recruitment of good students, in locating financial resources, and by making myself available for tasks I am called upon to perform.
As a member of this alumni organization, I will make efforts on a continuing basis, to attract other well-meaning alumni and friends of Morris Brown College, to join our attempts to assure her a long life of success, and achievement for her sons and daughters.

Alumni Prayer
Oh Lord, we beseech Thee to give us that due sense of love, reverence, and respect for our Alma Mater, Morris Brown College. We ask that Thou will give us the will to represent her, displaying the highest degree of personal integrity, and with a level of deportment that will show forth these morals and virtues she has taught and stood for, for so many years.
We ask that Thou will continue to let your light so shine on her, that she may continue as a lively center for sound learning, new discovery, and the pursuit of wisdom. And grant that those who teach there, and those who learn there, may find you to be the source of all truth. Bless the President, the Staff and Faculty that they may be good leaders, and set right examples for academic excellence and outstanding achievement.
